UT Web
UT Web is The University of Texas at Austin's primary Web server and publishing environment. It's the university’s panel-based central Web hosting platform and has replaced Web Central as of June 2016.
The home and core pages are managed by University Communications and built in Drupal; several administrative and key sites are included and others will be incorporated as part of the Digital Experience Project, expected to launch in the fall of 2014.
University Blog Service
The University Blog Service is available for use by faculty, staff and students. The service uses the WordPress platform. Blogs can be created by and are available for individuals, groups, projects or departments.
University Wiki Service
The University Wiki Service supports the educational and administrative activities of the university and serves as a means of communication by and among users. Its intended use is to support university-affiliated groups, departments and organizations. Wiki spaces can be created for individual use, but collaboration is the service's primary purpose.
Administrative Computer System (Mainframe)
The UT Austin Administrative Computer System (mainframe) is the university's administrative computing system. The mainframe runs nearly all of the university's administrative applications, many of which users access through UT Direct.
PyPE
Python Production Environment (PyPE) provides an evolution in the development environment for applications written for UT Direct. Using the Python programming language and the Django Web framework, developers are able to write applications quickly, securely and succinctly.
SharePoint
A SharePoint site is a website that provides a central storage and collaboration space for documents, information and ideas. A SharePoint site helps groups of people share information and work together.
Other options
- Hosting options are also provided by departments, either on their own servers or using virtual servers supplied by ITS. Publishers should contact their departmental IT departments.
- Box cloud storage is a campus-wide service that allows faculty, staff, and students at UT Austin to use Box cloud-based file sharing for business and academic purposes.
- Qualtrics is a cloud-based generalized survey service permitting the creation of survey instruments, distribution of the surveys, data storage and analysis. Qualtrics is available for use by faculty, staff and students and is approved for most Category I data (including HIPAA, FERPA and IRB).
